The Charlie Kirk Turning Point

There isn’t much I can say about Charlie Kirk the man that hasn’t already been said literally millions of times across social media by now. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, a giant among conservatives, and an irreplaceable superstar. The world is a better place for him having been in it, and despite the greatness of his legacy, the world is a lesser place for his having been stolen from it. It’s easy and appropriate to be heartbroken and furious, and it’s easy and understandable to indulge in all manner of revenge fantasies. Vengeance won’t bring him back, and none of us are judge, jury, and executioner. The wicked left missed that memo a long time ago.
And maybe vengeance isn't the point. Sometimes the scales are out of balance and they must be adjusted for the sake of justice. It's not difficult to surmise that now is just such a time of imbalance.
We here at Uncle Sam’s Inkwell do not encourage acts of violent retaliation against public figures or private citizens of the vile left. Nor will we discourage it. If individuals on the right find themselves compelled to act on their desire for a reckoning, and if they follow through, we here at Uncle Sam’s Inkwell will not condone it. Nor will we condemn it.
The crown jewel of Charlie Kirk’s career is Turning Point USA. The title of this organization has turned out to be prophetic. His death must not be in vain. His death must be a turning point in our politics. As a martyr, his voice will carry through the generations. But the rest of us he leaves behind are faced with a question: do we sit and wait for the next martyr? What are we to do?
