In Chicago and Beyond, Democrats Are Pro-Crime

Chicago is the world’s largest open-air shooting range. Since 2020, the city has averaged seven hundred shooting deaths per year. It is the murder capital of the country, and the city leadership, and the state government, are hellbent on keeping it that way.
It is not an exaggeration to say the Democrats are officially pro-crime. At every turn, their reflex is to defund the police and prevent federal authorities from exercising their constitutional obligations to bring law and order to the most chaotic corners of the country. The Democrats are not on the side of peaceful citizens doing their best to walk the straight and narrow. They do not care about you; they do not care about your family; they care about criminals, and they care about crime. They want to coddle the crooks and they want to expand their wicked empires.
Mayor Brandon Johnson recently made an ass of himself when he said, "We do not want to see tanks in our streets. We do not want to see families ripped apart. We do not want grandmothers thrown into the back of unmarked vans." Equating grandmothers with violent gang members is perverse and untethered from reality. He uses the visage of the innocent to protect the criminals, conflating them as if he does not know the difference, but he knows. He is a liar and a menace to society.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has also made a fool of herself lately when she said the administration "needs to stop attacking cities to hide their own failures." If she were to look at Washington, D.C., she would notice that murders, carjackings, and arson have plummeted to historic lows because of federal anti-crime intervention. She is deliberately confusing success with failure because, like her Windy City colleague, she is a liar and she is pro-crime.
Mayor Wu has gone further to demonstrate her dishonesty and the leftist reflex to conflate things that are mirror opposites to obfuscate. She said of the anti-crime policies, "Boston will not back down from who we are and what we stand for." The federal administration is targeting criminals. Mayor Wu, like Johnson in Chicago, conflates everyday citizens with criminals; indeed, she uses the entire city of Boston as a smokescreen to protect criminals by pretending federal authorities are targeting the innocent. They are not. She is a liar and she is pro-crime.
At every turn, Democratic mayors choose the path of dragging their feet with bail reform and holistic approaches to crime deterrence that focus on root causes because God forbid criminals should be afraid of punitive consequences to their crimes. But let us be totally honest about why exactly they do not want the federal government sending in the Guard to clean up their cities: if the residents of these cesspools see how quickly and dramatically crime can be reduced, they will come to the conclusion that their city and state leadership could have cracked down and cleaned up many years ago, but they chose not to.
They did not crack down and clean up because they do not want to, and they do not want to because more crime means more fear in the inner cities. It means more desperation on the part of disadvantaged communities. It means those communities will continue to be reliant on the city, the state, and the federal governments for welfare and half-baked security measures that accomplish nothing. It means these poor people will remain on the Democrat Party Plantation.
For the Democrats, a good voter—the best voter—is a frightened voter, because if the government actually solved their problems, the way the current administration is, then what would they need the Democrats for?
