Restoring the Credibility of the Nobel Peace Prize

In October of 2009, then-Commander-in-Chief Barack Hussein Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” He had been in office for less than a year and had, in fact, done nothing to earn the prize. It would have been bad enough if the first "Token" President had received the award as merely a token itself. But stay with me here, it gets a lot worse.
Fast forward six years, almost to the date the award was denigrated by his having received it for doing nothing but showing up—the ultimate participation trophy. On October 3, 2015, a U.S. AC-130 gunship “mistakenly” targeted the trauma center of a hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan, during intense fighting between Afghan government forces and the Taliban. At least 42 people were killed (patients, staff, and caregivers), and dozens more were injured. I say “mistakenly” because the hospital had made its location well known to the U.S. military prior to the “mistake.”
The cherry on top of this perverse application of American military might is that this particular hospital was operated by none other than Médecins Sans Frontières, or as we know it in English, Doctors Without Borders. If you know anything about MSF, you are well aware that this organization is also a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Far from being a self-aggrandizing imposter and a pompous producer of hot air, MSF deserved their peace prize. Their courage in conflict zones, independence and neutrality, témoignage (a French term used by MSF to mean "bearing witness"), and their fearless defense of human dignity were all worthy reasons for their having been honored with an award that once meant something. The Nobel Peace Prize is an honor meant for those persons who exemplify the best aspects of our humanity. MSF fits the bill to the letter. Obama is a paper-thin charlatan by comparison.
It’s a savage and tragic and violent irony that the 2008 candidate of Hope and Change would instead become the only winner of the Nobel Peace Prize to have ever bombed another. Not even Yasser Arafat, a proud anti-Semite and terrorist, ever stooped to a point so vile. Bloated war criminal Kissinger—may he burn in hell—is a rookie compared to BHO.
Whatever credibility the prize once had has been stripped away by the dishonor and villainy of our imposter president and the politically correct spinelessness of the Norwegian Nobel Committee. Long gone are the days when the committee would bestow the prestige of the award on the likes of Albert Schweitzer, the ICBL, the International Red Cross, and the aforementioned MSF. It’s possible the committee and the prize itself are beyond redemption.
But perhaps not. There is an opportunity for the award and the committee to both regain credibility.
In May of this year, President Donald Trump mediated a peace deal between perpetual rivals India and Pakistan as they stood on the threshold of a major conflagration. The next month, June, President Trump once again worked his magic, and the leaders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed a U.S.-brokered peace agreement to end their conflict, which included provisions for joint security coordination and a mutual respect of borders. In July, the administration also worked on brokering a peace deal between Thailand and Cambodia. In August, an agreement was signed at the White House between Armenia and Azerbaijan to end their long-standing conflict. The deal includes the creation of a transit corridor, which the White House has named the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity." The United States was granted development rights to this corridor. And again in June, the Trump administration, with help from Qatar, was directly responsible for brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran to put an end to the 12 Days War.
You may not like Donald Trump. Hell, you might hate him. But do you hate peace? Are you such a hate-filled maniac that you refuse to give the man any credit for what he has accomplished during his short time in office? At this point in his presidency, Donald Trump has achieved infinitely more in the pursuit of peace than his predecessor could have ever claimed when he received the Nobel Peace Prize back in October of 2009.
Trump isn't just talking about bringing peace to the world, he's doing it. And as we stand on the cusp of an end to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, it is undeniable that the peace process has his fingerprints all over it. It is time for this horrible war to end and it is time to bring legitimacy back to an award that is tainted by the failure and wickedness of the Obama administration. When the war ends, it will be to Trump’s credit; even the European leaders he recently hosted at the White House acknowledge his role in moving the process forward.
So, will the Norwegian Nobel Committee make the decision that it prefers war to peace? Will they thumb their nose at a golden opportunity to re-infuse their award with credibility? And what about you, the people who despise Trump so much that you’re willing to take the side of bloodshed rather than respect the path of international goodwill and cooperation?
This is an opportunity for you to regain your own credibility as well.
